What Is Ziwu Spear（子午枪）
Ziwu Spear full name Ziwu Chockhold Spear（子午锁喉枪）, it's widely cultivated and practiced within the Wudang Sect.
Ziwu refers to the line connecting your central meridian to your opponent's — front and rear body axes aligned into one straight line, balancing offensive (Yang) and defensive (Yin) mechanics.
On that line — the Ziwu Line (子午线) — we find one perfect target: the throat.
The "Chokehold" Spear
The throat sits right on the Ziwu line — the same center line you're already holding. That makes it the most vulnerable target available, because it's already aligned. You don't have to reach for it. It's just there.
Here's the deeper reason this matters. Throat shot is lethal shot, easy. Yet any non-lethal thrust — anywhere that isn't a kill shot — means you have to draw the spear back out. And drawing out is the most dangerous moment in spear fighting.
The Spear is called "The King of Weapons" for a reason, a big one. Which is distance domination. The cold weapons longer than Spear? Not agile enough. All the weapons shorter? All little brothers cause we are longer. There's a saying in Chinese ”An extra inch of length brings an extra inch of advantage; an extra inch of shortness brings an extra inch of danger.（一寸长一寸强，一寸短一寸险）“ Dagger could be lethal in close-up combat, it would be devastating when you trying to approach a man with a spear. You might got multiple shots before you can even close the distance. The spear's mechanism — winning through distance, will work when two things checked. First, distance control, second, center-line control.
Distance Control
If you lose distance control, you lose what makes it a "Spear". The weapon in your hand cannot be thrusting anymore. It loses its entire meaning.
This is why Spearman also called "The Lancer". The Spear user in traditional monastery, doesn't need to "Hold the ground" like soldiers in battlefield. So the correct tactic is always "Hit-And-Run". I manage a distance where you cannot close, so I will always win... Without getting any hits.
There were tons of legendary Spearman in Chinese history because the versatility is unmatched. The famous one named Zhao Yun（赵云）, he was called "Ever-victorious general（常胜将军）" and never lose a fight even on open battlefield, it is all distance control. He mastered the art completely so he doesn't get hit.
Ziwu Line Control
If you lose center line, you lose "Ziwu" out of "Ziwu Spear". Yes you may still find somewhere to thrust with your spear, but your spear won't be lethal in one shot, and that 's the second-unforgivable consequence when you hold a spear.
When you do non-lethal attacks often, you risk your life of enemy violently engaging closing up the distance cause he knows you are gonna hurt more. It's a bad trade for us, we never want to see that when we using spear. So Hold the Line becomes crucial. If we hold the Ziwu Line, we can get one-shot kill. If we don't, we have tremendous chances to lose the fight.
Therefore Ziwu is life. Losing it is death.
